It is estimated that the scheme will provide over 1,000 new jobs for local people, covering a range of sectors.

The scheme will offer significant marine employment opportunities. In total there will be around 228,500 sq ft marine employment space for major production and refitting with a 100,000 sq ft boat yard. The units will range from 1,000 - 50,000 sq ft for boats from 60 - 200 ft. New pontoons and a boat hoist will support the marine businesses with deep water access of 5 - 6m.

There will also be up to 48,000 sq ft of new office space overlooking the water. All these facilities will create a new hub for the marine sector on the south coast.

Retail and commercial opportunities will arise from the new supermarket, shops, hotel, cafés, restaurants and office space.

The construction and overall build process will take several years to complete which will give opportunities for jobs and construction training.
