Centenary Quay: Outperforming the UK Property Market With Fantastic Sales Success image

Whilst the forecast for the UK property market remains static*, confidence in Crest Nicholson’s Centenary Quay, Southampton’s latest development, is sky high with a phenomenal 32 homes sold since its opening earlier this year. The development, which is attracting a high number of first time buyers, key workers and investors, has proved so successful that the next phase of homes has been released for sale ahead of schedule.

Susan Young, Sales & Marketing Director for Crest Nicholson Regeneration, said: “We knew that Southampton, and Woolston in particular, had a great need for new homes so the high level of enquiries prior to launch wasn’t a big surprise. We are delighted however, that so many sales have been achieved within the first few months of opening and that we have been able to help so many buyers either move onto or up the property ladder.

“Centenary Quay has been a tremendous success story for all home-types and buyers. We have helped numerous first time buyers, including key workers such as teachers, step onto the property ladder; all the one and two-bedroom apartments in Phase 1 have been purchased within two months of being made available whilst the first release of two and three-bedroom houses have all been snapped up. We have even released the next phase of two-bedroom houses early in order to cope with demand.

“The development has also been extremely popular with investors and renters; all properties bought as buy-to-let homes were let within days, and often hours, of being made available. Due to the considerable demand, the management agency, Fox & Sons, had drawn up a list of potential renters in advance of the development’s launch.”

Susan continues: “It is wonderful that Centenary Quay has enabled so many first time buyers and key workers to own their own home. Crest Nicholson prides itself on building not just developments but communities; at Centenary Quay, we are supporting and building a sustainable community for the future.”

Homes currently available for sale comprise one and two-bedroom apartments, priced from £121,500, and two-bedroom houses, priced from £186,000. One and two-bedroom show apartments are available to view, along with the two-bedroom ‘IKEA’ show house, which has been kitted out entirely in the latest IKEA furniture and furnishings.

When complete, Centenary Quay will deliver 1,620 new homes in total providing accommodation for around 3000 residents, significantly regenerating the riverside of Woolston. The seven year investment programme covers an overall area of 31 acres and will provide a range of restaurants and cafes, a supermarket, several community facilities including a nursery and a library, a children’s play area, Primary Care Trust facility and a new marine quarter to meet the needs of the marine industry.
