Quality of life is central to the ethos behind Centenary Quay. An appreciation of natural resources is central to that mandate. Accordingly, the development will enable existing residents to enjoy improved access to the waterfront, and to the wide, waterfront promenade, which is a feature of Centenary Quay.
The appreciation of indigenous wildlife and natural physical beauty are considered vital to the life experience of visitors and residents of the development. A strong ecological theme has therefore played a central part in the design of the development.
The River Itchen is the site’s chief natural asset. To make the most of it, the development will feature a new river frontage and provide pedestrian access to the river bank. The ecological riverside terraces are designed to provide clear views of the river, and to enhance the biodiversity of the adjacent Special Protection Area.
This meticulously planned development will offer many other features such as a public piazza, tranquil landscaped grounds alongside a new library, play area, cafés and restaurants – all of which have been designed with lifestyle in mind.
Crest Nicholson are also currently exploring the possibility of displaying art throughout the site, which will be created by local artists. In this way the cultural wellbeing of the local community will also be supported and served.
